PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the period of a time slot in a communication channel according to transmitted information by setting a period to be a first period, when data is transmitted and to be a second period when data is not transmitted. SOLUTION: A telephone set monitors a data channel and recognizes whether an effective command exists in the data channel. When it is recognized that a data packet does not exist in the specified time slot, the specified time slot time is reduced to 11 ms. When the data packet occupying the time slot exists, the telephone set decides whether the data packet is caller ID packet. When the telephone set decides that the data packet is not the caller ID packet, the time slot is generated by 50 ms. When the data packet is the caller ID packet, the time slot is enlarged.
