PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive product which can endure omission of scales, numerals, labels or the like due to separation or wear or, long-time use under high temperatures and high humidities by coating a tape measure printed with an ink for printing to a hardened steel strip or the like with the use of a saturated polyester based resin which has a low water absorption among synthetic resins, is inexpensive and has a superior fitness. SOLUTION: Scales and numerals or labels, etc., are printed to a hardened steel strip baking finished with a paint having masking properties, or a tape measure strip having scales and numerals or labels, etc., printed to a metallic face is heated beforehand in a range of 160-280 deg.C. Then, the steel strip or tape measure strip is coated with a molten saturated polyester based resin. An inexpensive product which can endure omission of the scales and numerals or labels, etc., because of separation or wear, or long-time use under high temperatures and high humidities can be provided accordingly.
