PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable reduction of track width and magnetic path length of an induction type magnetic converting element and also prevent increase in the number of processes for the manufacturing. SOLUTION: A recording head includes a lower magnetic pole layer 8 and an upper magnetic pole layer including the magnetic pole portions which are provided opposed with each other via a recording gap layer 9 and a thin film coil 16. In the region at the upper surface of the recording gap layer 9 to arrange a connecting portion 16 of a thin film coil 16, a bottom-up pattern 41 is formed and a thin film coil 16 is formed on this bottom-up pattern 41 in order to layout the connecting portion 16a. The upper surface of an insulating layer 17 covering the thin film coil 16 is flattened and only the connecting portion 16a of the thin film coil 16 is exposed from the upper surface of the insulation layer 17. The exposed connecting part 16a is connected with a conductive layer 19 that becomes a lead.
