PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal-plane shutter for a camera capable of obtaining stable exposure actuation even when a spring for gathering backlash is laid on respective blade groups and realizing miniaturization. SOLUTION: A front blade group and a rear blade group are composed of two arms pivotally attached to a shutter bottom board 1, and four blades coupled with the arms. Either of two arms is an arm on a side where driving force is transmitted when the exposure actuation is performed, and the backlash gathering spring absorbing the backlash at plural coupling parts is laid on the other arm. The backlash gathering spring 43 of the front blade group is fit to a shaft 1s, and its one end is laid on a shaft 1u and a hook at the other end is laid on a follower arm 38 but it does not come in contact with an auxiliary bottom board 46 and is actuated in a clearance groove 46s. The backlash gathering spring 35 of the rear blade group is fit to the shaft 1u, its one end is laid on the shaft 1s and the hook at the other end is laid on a follower arm 30 but it does not come in contact with the board 1 and is actuated in a slot 1e. Therefore, the respective blade groups are stably actuated.
