PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a state that a detecting light creeps into a photographing screen and un-intended exposure are overlappingly performed even when a film is stopped in the cource of mid-cource and it is irradiaged with the detecting light for a long time by adopting a small-sized sensor means. SOLUTION: In a film state detector having a sensor means having a light projecting part irradiating a part in which the perforation part being the outside of the photographing screen of a film exists and a light receiving part receiving the passed light of the perforation of the film of the detecting light or a reflected light from the film and a detecting means detecting the position or the feeding rate of the film based on a received light output from the sensor means, the detector has a light emission control means (#103 to #107) making the light projecting part emit the detecting light at prescribed intervals during the operation of the detecting means.
