PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a multilevel ID(identification) code using a small number of patterns and transmission lines by converting a common reference voltage into the current of each ID code and obtaining a multilevel ID code as a plurality of digits. SOLUTION: The apparatus for recognizing ID comprises a reference resistor 10, an I/V converter 20, and an A/D converter 30. The reference resistor 10 determines a current, flowing through a reference resistor R1 upon application of a common reference voltage Vr, as an ID code. The I/V converter 20 converts the current flowing through the reference resistor R1 into an output voltage Eo by means of an operational amplifier A0 and a resistor R2. The A/D converter 30 compares the output voltage Eo with comparison values V1, V2 and V3 of comparators C1, C2 and C3 and converts the comparison results, i.e., output code values VD1, VD2 and VD3, into binary digital codes B0, B1.
