PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image magnification device, which magnifies an original image in matching with an output device, that can magnify a sharp image without a fogged edge and flickering. SOLUTION: An input image adjustment means 11 adjusts an original image obtained by an image input means 10 so that number of desired horizontal and vertical pixels are halved, and a vertical edge generating means 100, a horizontal edge generating means 101 and an oblique edge generating means 102 generate edge images in 3 directions from the adjusted original image. A level-up means 103 applies inverse wavelet transform to the 3 images and the image adjusted by the input image adjustment means 11 by regarding them as 4 sub-band components of the wavelet transform image to form a magnified image with number of pixels as a multiple of 4.
