The apparatus includes a chassis with side arms and a towing vehicle, with attached mast parts, lifting equipment and device for raising the mast. The mast consists of a lower, a middle and an upper part, the top part being stored within the middle and lower parts. When stored, the lengths of the parts exceed the length of the chassis while being within traffic regulations. The lower mast part is connected by hinge to the middle part, and a roller is fixed above the hinge point for a cable which is attached at approximately half the height of the middle mast part and extends downwards where it is attached to the chassis. During erection of the mast, the lower part and the middle part are simultaneously brought to a vertical position. A method of wind intensity measurement is also claimed.
