The heat exchanger (2) has a body made of walls (16) fixed to each other in cantilever manner, feed and return connections (8,10) for a coolant, feed and return connections for a medium to be cooled and a connector plate (6) for attachment to a unit housing. The coolant feed and return connection is arranged on the connector plate that is mounted on the side of the heat exchanger facing away from the unit housing and the distance between the connector plate and housing is bridged by distance pieces (24).
