The HF receiver has a number of independent antenna elements (2) and a lesser number of pre-amplifiers (6), to which the antenna elements are connected via a switching matrix (4A). The switching matrix allows simulated pre-amplifier input impedances (10) to be coupled to the antenna elements which are not coupled to a pre-amplifier input by the switching matrix.
