PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packaging device to surely package an article in which flat pieces are stacked. SOLUTION: The packaging device comprises a longitudinal width adjusting member to be longitudinally moved between the position at which a portion close to a rear end of a packaging paper is folded along a rear surface of an article 2 when an elevating/lowering table 15 is lowered and the position at which the article 2 and the packaging paper are landed on an upper surface of one end part of a movable table 30, and a collapse preventive member 69 which is longitudinally moved in a synchronous manner with the longitudinal width adjusting member 75 between the position at which a portion close to a forward end of the packaging paper is folded along a forward surface of the article 2 when the elevating/lowering table 15 is lowered and the position at which the article 2 and the packaging paper are landed on an upper surface of one end part of the movable table 30, and whose upper end is retractable below the movable table 30, and the article 2 to be fed from the elevating/ lowering table 15 lowered to the article feed position to the movable table 30 is moved by the collapse preventive member 69 and the longitudinal width adjusting member 75 in a longitudinally held condition in the carrying direction.
