PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a ceramic product or member having high strength, excellent in shape accuracy and having a large size and a complex shape with a low cost. SOLUTION: The ceramic material is a calcined body which is obtained by calcining a ceramic formed body and filling a material capable of being removed at a temp. lower than the sintering temp. of the ceramic into the open pores of the calcined body. The ceramic material has open pores having diameters of 0.01 to 0.2 μm and a pore volume of 0.1 to 0.3 ml/g. The method for producing the ceramic product is comprised of calcining a ceramic formed body, then impregnating the material capable of being removed at a temp. lower than the sintering temp. of the ceramic into the open pores of the obtained ceramic calcined body to obtain the ceramic material having open pores with diameters of 0.01 to 0.2 μm and a pore volume of 0.1 to 0.3 ml/g, further mechanically processing the ceramic material so as to impart a desired form, removing the material mentioned above and firing the resulting ceramic material. |
