PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject molding apparatus capable of producing an article without damaging a coating. SOLUTION: In a molding apparatus molding an article having a main body comprising a thermoplastic material and at least one coating layer provided to at least one surface of the main body and consisting of an upper die 24 and a lower die 22 both of which are cooled to temp. equal to or lower than the plasticizing temp. of the main body comprising the thermoplastic material and a means for positioning the coating layer 46 between the upper and lower die 24, 22, an intermediate molding member 48 equipped with a heating means 54 is provided and the molding surface 50 cooperating with the lower due 22 is provided and the intermediate molding member 48 is made movable between the operation position arranged between the upper due 24 and the lower die 22 and a non-operation position where the dies 22, 24 cooperates directly with each other without interposing the intermediate molding member 48.
