METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING OPTICAL SYSTEM OF DUPLICATOR

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for controlling an optical system of a duplicator are provided to detect the initial position and completion position of a lamp with one optical sensor. CONSTITUTION: Reference data with respect to the driving track and pain parts of an optical system carriage assembly are read from a RAM according to the size of a document set on a flatten glass and duplication conditions(S103). When a duplication start button is sensed(S104), the assembly is moved at a low speed from an optical sensor to a point where an 'ON' signal of the first main part is detected(S105), and then moved by rapid acceleration to a point where an 'OFF' signal of the first main part is detected(S106). A lamp is turned on and the assembly travels at a normal speed on a predetermined track according to the reference data to irradiate lights on the document(S108). The signal detected from the main parts while the assembly travels is counted and compared with the reference data(S109). When it is judged that the assembly has traveled by the track according to the size of the document, the lamp is turned off and the assembly returns to the initial position(S119).
