PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the growth of photosynthetic microorganisms on the surface of a plastic material. SOLUTION: This method for finishing a plastic material (for example, a polyolefin or an unsaturated polyester) with a biocide comprises adding, for example, 2-methylthio-4-cyclopropylamino-6-tertiary butylamino-s-triazine or 2-methylthio-4-ethylamino-6-tertiary butylamino-s-triazine, (a) during the processing of the plastic material, (b) during a radical polymerization reaction, when the plastic material is produced by a radical polymerization, or (c) during a cross-linking reaction, when the plastic material is duroplasts produced from a phenol-formaldehyde resin, an epoxy resin or an aminoplastic resin.
