摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide excellent flatness in a plateau region without homogenizing treatment and also to provide activation characteristics by preparing a V solid solution in which the distribution of Ti concentration and the distribution of Ni concentration in a matrix have mutually positive correlation and which has a body-centered cubic structure and contains at least Ti and Ni. SOLUTION: A hydrogen storage alloy, composed of a V solid solution having a composition represented by the general formula V100-x-y-zTixCryNiz (where 5<=x<=15, 5<=y<=25, 0<z<(1/2)x, and z<5 are satisfied), is prepared. By this procedure, the V solid solution, in which the distribution of Ti concentration and the distribution of Ni concentration have mutually positive correlation and which has a body-centered cubic structure, can be obtained. The stability of hydrides by Ti concentration and the instability of hydrides by Ni concentration are adjusted so that the overall stability of hydrides can be equalized. Although the composition is heterogeneous, flatness in the plateau region can be improved. Further, because the ionic radius of Ni is smaller than that of V by >=5%, activation can be facilitated by Ni addition.
