PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely actuate an air hammer device by preventing decrease in the ability of and the stop of the air hammer device resulting from clogging of a drillhole with slime, water, soil and the like, to surely avoid clogging of the drillhole, to prevent dust pollution on the ground and high engine noises from a compressor device, to enable the use of an inexpensive compressor whose pressure is not so high, and to enable drilling while allowing the drillhole to be self-sustained by injection of chemicals. SOLUTION: In this down-the-hole hammer excavator in which an air hammer device 3 is mounted on the underside of a casing 1 and used to strike a hammer bit 4, exhaust from the air hammer device 3 is fully fed onto the ground via an exhaust pipe 5 in the casing 1, and an above-ground exhaust control valve is used for controlling the opening and closing of the excavator. Screw blades 2 are mounted on the outer periphery of the casing 1 and a rotary device therefor is provided on the ground.
