PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily prevent the generation of algae with high efficiency by a method wherein an elevating floor is elevated up to the surface of water by operating an alga generation preventive switch, and an alga-cide is added into stored water by operating a chemical addition device while stored water is driven and controlled by intermittently operating a water circulator. SOLUTION: A fixed quantity of copper sulfate is added into the pool P by a chemical addition device 32. The elevating floor 1 is elevated up to the position of the surface of water and stopped by a elevating driving device 10, and a water circulator 31 is operated and controlled by a set operation pattern. Accordingly, the elevating floor 1 functions as a cover and the irradiation with visible light into stored water is intercepted, and the photosynthesis and respiration of algae are inhibited and the propagation of algae is prevented effectively. The concentration gradient of copper ions in water is reduced by a circulation in a short time and a retention for a prolonged time, copper ions uniformly exist around the spores of algae, and nutrients and copper ions cannot be selected. Accordingly, the cells of spores are destroyed, and the generation and propagation of algae can be inhibited effectively.
