PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent grooves in a tool surface of a forming tool from being disappeared. SOLUTION: Slit grooves 11, 12 having the groove depth of at least 80% of tool height are opened in a tool surface 10a of a body of a forming tool to grind/polish a lens surface, etc., and a grinding solution is introduced in a machining point. Bottom surfaces 11a, 12a of the slit grooves 11, 12 are inclined in a ridge shape or a valley shape following an uneven shape of the tool surface 10a, and thus, the strength is not insufficient even when the groove depth is 80% or over so that the groove is not eliminated by the wear.
