PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flexible floor joist, which is executed simply and which has excellent stability, by forming notches in the vertical direction or notches at a plurality of positions of an oblong material having mutually parallel base and top face and having a sectional shape and imparting flexibility in the vertical direction, leaving a thin connecting section to the base, the top face or either one position of intermediate sections in the fixed lateral direction. SOLUTION: The floor joist 1 is formed of a galvanized steel plate, and a sectional shape is formed in a rectangular hat type semicylindrical shape. The lower end of a side face 12 is folded to the outside, and an edge-shaped base 13 is formed. Beltlike noltches 2 crossing over both side faces 12 and a top face 11 are formed, leaving the base 13. Approximately circular through- sections 3 crossing over both side faces and the top face are formed near both end sections. A fitting projecting section 14 for connection is formed at one end section of the floor joist 1 and a fitting recessed section 15 similarly at the other end. Accordingly, the floor joist, by which underfloor wirings are facilitated and which has flexibility in the vertical direction, is cut easily and is also executed simply, can be obtained.
