The invention relates to a gear drive having at least one toothed wheel (10) on a first shaft (12) and a second toothed wheel (14) that engages with the first toothed wheel (10) by means of helical gearing (22, 26) on a second shaft (16) that is spaced from the first shaft (12). A third toothed wheel (18) compensating for the backlash of the toothed wheels is disposed axially in relation to the second toothed wheel (14), said third toothed wheel also engaging with the first toothed wheel (10) by means of a helical gearing (24, 26) and being axially displaceable in relation to the second toothed wheel. An expansion element (28) is provided for temperature-dependent modification of the distance between the second and the third toothed wheels (14, 18). The thermal expansion of said element is selected in such a way that a change in the backlash of the toothed wheels due to a heat-dependent change in the distance between the first and the second shafts (12, 16) is compensated for by an axial displacement of the third toothed wheel (18) as a result of thermal expansion of the expansion element (28) taking into account a helical gearing effect. |
