The equipment has two telescopic spaced apart frame pieces(3) fastened to the ceiling. The frame pieces on their long sides are interconnected by a flexible tensioning band(6) to form a defined space between the ceiling and tensioning band for the insertion of the roof battens(1). The frame pieces are telescopic in the longitudinal direction. The tensioning band is attached to the frame pieces in meander form, and tensioned around spaced apart spigots(5) attached to the long sides of the frame pieces. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for fitting a roof lining on a ceiling using the proposed equipment.
