PURPOSE: Provided is a process for producing a coarse and high tensile steel with a welding ability, particularly tenacity at basic material and welding portions, and without having substantial low welding cracks during a welding process with even not pre-heating. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises directly quenching at a quenching rate of 20-35deg.C/s from 920deg.C to 300deg.C, and tempering the steel at 640deg.C after completing a general process for rolling at 920deg.C. The obtained steel comprises 0.05-0.08% C, 0.2-0.5% Ni, 0.2-0.5% Mo and 0.02-0.05% V all based on weight percent of chemical compounds. The produced steel has about 60kgf/mm¬2 of tensile strength and without addition of boron component.
