PURPOSE: An SMPS(Switching Mode Power Supply) of a portable computer is provided to improve the efficiency in using a battery and designing a system by forming a standardized connector between a DC/DC converter and a system board. CONSTITUTION: The SMPS consists of two terminals(1,2) having 28 numbers of terminals to supply normal power for +5V units to a system board from a DC/DC converter, two terminals(5,6) supplying normal power for +3.3V units to the system board, a terminal(9) supplying normal power for +12V units to the system board, a power terminal(10) supplying power to drive an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) module of the system board, each ground terminal(11,12) for a 12V terminal and an LCD module supplying terminal, two terminals(13,14) informing the system board of the current status of the DC/DC converter, a power voltage terminal(15) always supplying power to the system board, a power terminal(16) supplying additional power for a clock circuit of the system board, a power supplying terminal(19) used for a monitor of the system board, and a power supplying terminal(20) used for a backup battery of the system board monitor.
