FLOW RESTRICTOR FOR PIPES

A valve member (22, 24, 26) for temporarily inhibiting fluid flow in a fluid distribution main comprising a length of plastics pipe. The plastics pipe comprises an extruded cross-linked polyolefin. External pressure is applied to a localised section of the plastics pipe, by a clamp, for example, in order to resiliently deform the pipe cross section and inhibit fluid flow therethrough.
