<p>Osteogenesis promoters which contain compounds having a Rho kinase inhibitory activity. Compounds having a Rho kinase inhibitory activity such as (+)-trans-4-(1-aminoethyl)-1-(4-pyridylcarbamoyl)cyclohexane enhance the production of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) in mesenchymal cells. When undifferentiated mesenchymal cells are treated by these compounds, moreover, the productivity of osteopontin, which is an osteoblast differentiation marker, the alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and the productivity of osteocalcin are remarkably elevated. Thus, these compounds exert an effect of inducing the differentiation into osteoblasts to thereby promote osteogenesis, which makes them useful as osteogenesis promoters and/or preventives/remedies for bone diseases.</p> |
