Detergent tablet comprises a core and a coating, the core having a diametral fracture stress less than 15 kPa, and comprising a non-gelling binder. The coated tablet has a diametral fracture stress of at least 20 Kpa. Also claimed are detergent tablets: (1) having a diametral fracture stress of at least 20 kPa; and (2) comprising a core and a coating, the core having a diametral fracture stress less than 15 kPa and the coated tablet having a diametral fracture stress of at least 20 kPa; the tablets giving less than 18g residue at the end of washing machine cycle under stressed test consisting of three 60 g tablets placed in the bottom of the drum of a "Miele W381" "(RTM)" washing machine, 2.5 kg of mixed fabric load being placed in the drum on top of the tablets, and the machine run using a "whites/colours" short cycle of 30 degrees C. Also claimed is a method of preparing an aqueous solution of a laundry detergent for use in a front loading washing machine having a dispensing drawer and a washing drum, the aqueous solution being formed by dissolving the detergent tablet in water, the tablet being placed in the dispensing drawer and water passed through the drawer so that the tablet is dispensed as an aqueous solution of a laundry detergent, the aqueous solution being passed into the washing drum. |
