Insulating wall

An insulating wall has insulation in a cavity between parallel internal and external insulating layers. Ties bridge the cavity to connect the layers. The whole wall is less than 40 cm thick and each layer is ≥ 4 cm thick. Each cubic meter of the layers includes ≥ 250 kg of cement, ≥ 250 l of air trapped in particles of insulating material, an agent causing the cement to coat the particles and water so the water cement ratio is 0.2 - 0.5. Independent claims are included for the following: (a) The above wall where the amount of additive ≥ 0.4% the wt of concrete or ≥ 0.8 l/m<3> of the mixture. (b) Making a wall as above by casting the inner and outer layers and then pouring the insulation into the cavity. Preferred Features: The insulation may be glass coated beads or porous volcanic rock.
