Flexible cable loop assemblies (20) for use variously as a key chains, paper ring binders, or as jewelry and a connector (38) for use in loop assemblies. The connector (38) includes elongate cylindrical mating male (32) and female (35) connector halves each having respective end bores into which opposite ends of a flexible cable (23) are secured. The male connector half (32) includes a generally cylindrical front plug (41) with a radially-inwardly compressible lock ring (65) of slightly larger uncompressed outer diameter than that of the plug. The plug (41) closely fits into a mating cylindrical socket bore (53) in the female connector half (35) which radially compresses the lock ring during insertion of the plug therein. An annular lock ring groove (98) inside the socket bore is configured to receive the outer portion of the lock ring which lock ring radially expands therein to removably retain the male and female halves together. |
