A phase error detector (PFD) calculates a phase correction signal (S) according to one of several preset calculation methods after detecting each decision region. This means the phase error detector encounters such coordination between decision regions in a complex QAM signal status level and individual calculation methods that its statistical phase response has no further reset at a latching point.
