<p>The system for controlling the position of vehicle seat parts includes two mechanical locks and a motor-driven actuator. The actuator allows the mechanical locks to open when the user closes a remote switch. When the switch activates the motor, the motor drives a gear train through a clutch. The gear train acts through a rack to pull two cables simultaneously. Each cable extends to a mechanical lock, and when the cable is pulled, the mechanical lock is released to allow the seat parts to move relative to each other. When the switch is released, the clutch releases the gear train so that the cables can pull the rack to its normal position. The cables no longer pull release the mechanical lock, so the lock prevents relative seat part movement.</p> |
