The element transmits control movements between a remote control (2) and a gear change, and is formed by a flexible shaft (5). It has two wire tracks, each of at least one spirally wound wire similar to a speedometer shaft. The wires of each track are wound in opposite directions. The wires are coaxial to the central axis of the shaft, and are located on a flexible core. The shaft has a corrosion-resistant slideable jacket. It extends in a sleeve (6), which is fastened to the bicycle frame (11), or at least partially inside the frame tubes.
