The filling level limiting valve has a flange (1) fitting over the fuel tank filling opening on the outside and a tubular float housing (3) containing a float (4) which is moved between an open position and a closed position, in which an associated sealing element (5) closes a vent opening (21). The float housing is fixed on the inside of a skirt (2), secured to the flange at its top end and enclosing the float housing at a given relative spacing below the flange.
