[Class 89 (i)] A nut and bolt fastener comprises a one-piece sheet metal body having a thickness less than the thread pitch of a co-operating bolt 9 and bent to form two arms 10, 11 adapted to receive therebetween one or more of the parts 21 to be joined, the arms having bolt-receiving apertures 12, 13, a portion 15 adjacent the aperture 12 for engaging the thread on the bolt, and a portion 16 adjacent the aperture 13 for clearing the bolt and adapted to act as an index and enter an aperture 20 in the part 21 so as to lock all the apertures in registration. The arms 10, 11 may be of substantially equal width and they may be so spaced from one another that they must be.spread slightly apart to admit the part 21. The portion 15 is preferably sufficiently large to cover the bolt passage, the portion 16 is preferably frusto-conical, and both portions may be formed from the body of the arms 10, 11. |
