The master and simulator cut solenoid valves (SE1,SE2,SC) perform connection or cut off between master cylinder and wheel brake, and between master cylinder and stroke simulator, respectively. A detector detects stroke of brake pedal or cylinder. If detected stroke exceeds preset value, a controller controls the stroke simulator to attain desired stroke during closed state of simulator cut solenoid valve.
