New mesenchymal stem cell antigen, used to raise antibodies for e.g. cell characterization and bone marrow typing

A mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) antigen (Ag) that is produced by: (a) culturing human MSC to a confluent monolayer; (b) releasing cells with trypsin-EDTA (ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid); (c) incubating with detergent; and (d) separating by chromatography, is new. A mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) antigen (Ag) that is produced by: (a) culturing human MSC to a confluent monolayer; (b) releasing cells with trypsin-EDTA (ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid); (c) incubating with detergent; (d) separating by chromatography such as sequential gel chromatography, lectin-affinity chromatography and DEAE (diethylaminoethyl) ion-exchange chromatography, is new. The Ag-containing fractions are pooled and an approximately 32 kD fraction isolated by affinity chromatography using the antibody produced by the hybridoma DSM... (no number given). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a hybridoma DSM...(no number given); (2) a MSC antibody (I) produced using Ag; (3) a MSC antibody (II) produced from DSM...(no number given); and (4) an immunological test kit containing at least one of (I) or (II).
