PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll compressor that exhibits improved performance by the decreasing capacity of discharge port as much as possible as well as suppressing recompression power low. SOLUTION: This scroll compressor 1 comprises, in a casing 1A, a fixed scroll 8, an orbiting scroll 9, and a back pressure block 13. The fixed scroll 8 is formed on one side of an end plate 10 with a helical projection 11, and is allowed to move in the axial direction only. The orbiting scroll 9 is provided on one side of an end plate 17 with a helical projection 18, forming closed spaces 21a, 21b (compressor chambers) by combining the helical projection 18 and the helical projection 11 of the fixed scroll 8. The back pressure block 13 supports the back surface of the fixed scroll 8. Furthermore, a discharge port 34 is formed on the end plate 10 of the fixed scroll 8 for communicating with the compressor chambers. The back pressure block 13 is ring-shaped, and with the inner peripheral surface thereof and the fixed scroll 8, forming a high pressure chamber 16, in which a discharge valve 35 for opening/closing the discharge port 34 is provided.
