PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively produce a dialkanolamine by a method for reacting ammonia with an alkylene oxide in the presence of a solid catalyst, separating the ammonia, feeding an alkanolamine in the resultant reactional liquid to a second reactor and reacting the alkanolamine with the alkylene oxide. SOLUTION: (A) Ammonia is reacted with an alkylene oxide in the presence of a solid catalyst in a first reactor 101 and (B) ammonia is separated from the reactional liquid in the step A in an apparatus 105 for separating the ammonia. (C) A liquid containing alkanolamines and obtained in the step B and the alkylene oxide are introduced into a second reactor 102 to react the monoalkanolamines in the above liquid with the alkylene oxide in the reactor 102. In the step A, liquid ammonia from a line 121, as necessary, is preheated with a preheater 111 and then mixed with ethylene oxide from a line 123 and the resultant mixture is fed to the reactor 101. The ethanolamines separated in the step B are fed from a line 122 and ethylene oxide is fed from a line 124 to the reactor 102. |
