PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical member which can be accurately inspected while being coated with a protective film when the optical member is adhered to a liquid crystal panel and even when the protective film has the phase difference, by controlling the crossing angle between the absorption axis of a polarizing plate and the delayed phase axis or advanced phase axis of the protective film to a specified value or smaller. SOLUTION: The optical member is produced by coating the surface of a polarizing plate 2 or an elliptical polarizing plate 6 where the polarizing plate 2 and a phase difference plate 5 are laminated, with a protective film 1 by adhesion. The crossing angle between the absorption axis of the polarizing plate 2 and the slow phase axis or fast phase axis of the protective film 1 is within 15. The polarizing plate 2 or the elliptical polarizing plate 6 where the polarizing plate 2 and a phase difference plate 5 are laminated, is properly selected from plates used for the formation of a liquid crystal display device, and is not specially limited. As for the polarizing plate 2, a polarizing film prepared by adsorbing iodine and/or a dichroic dye to a polyvinylalcohol film, partially formal-converted polyvinylalcohol film or the like and stretching the film can be used. |
