PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To spray water of nearly the same volume into a washing/spin-dry basket even if there is difference in the volume of the washing water in the washing/spin-dry basket by controlling the rotation of the washing/spin-dry basket while monitoring the current flowing to a motor of a washing machine which removes the dirt of clothes by rotationally driving the washing/spin-dry basket and circulating the washing water. SOLUTION: The washing/spin-dry basket 2 freely rotatably disposed in an outer tank 1 is driven by a motor 5 and the water level of the washing/ spin-dry basket 2 is detected by a water level detecting means 10. The control means controls the motor 5 to control strokes and has a washing stroke of rotating the washing/spin-dry basket and spraying the washing water from between the outer tank 1 and the washing/spin-dry basket 2 into the washing/ spin-dry basket 2. The control means is so constituted as to approximately constantly control the current value of the motor 5 according to the water level of the washing/dehydrating tank 2.
