In the determination of oxygen-partial pressure in a medium (F), particularly in a liquid having specific electrical conductivity of less than 1 mS/cm, the method involves using a gas sensor (1) with a measuring electrode (3) which has an electrocatalytic inactive, electrically conductive material on one contact surface. An output signal is measured whilst the contact surface remains in contact with the medium.
