PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stable contact state with a wire after storing a press contact terminal in a cavity. SOLUTION: A press contact terminal 20 is pressed into contact with a wire 10 outside the female housing 35 beforehand, and then the press contact terminal 20 is inserted into a cavity 36. A space between left and right side walls 40 of the cavity 36 is designated wider beforehand than the width of the press contact terminal 20 when formed. On the both side walls 40, a pair of protrusion parts 42 are formed extendingly at positions corresponding to positions where front and rear press contact blades 27 are formed (press contact part 24) when the press contact terminal 20 is inserted to a regular position. When the wire 10 is pressed for contact, the press contact part 24 is maintained in an open deformed state mainly for preventing a cable core from being disconnected. When the press contact terminal 20 is inserted into the cavity 36 and reaches the regular position, the open press contact part 24 comes on the protrusion parts 42 from a slope surface 43, and the press contact part 24 is maintained in a closed deformed state.
