PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a nucleic acid with a good sensitivity by using a nucleic acid probe containing a detectable label for a first and a second nucleic acid target regions, successively forming complexes of the nucleic acid probe and the nucleic acid regions and utilizing a difference in stability of the label. SOLUTION: A nucleic acid probe containing a detectable label for a first nucleic acid target region and a second nucleic acid target region is provided to form a first complex containing the nucleic acid probe and the first target region and a second complex containing the nucleic acid probe and the second target region is then formed (each label in both the complexes is different in stability). The first complex and the second complex are treated under conditions in which the stability of the label in the first complex is different from that of the label in the second complex to cause a difference in the ability so that the label can be detected in comparison of a case where the label is in the first complex and a case where the label is in the second complex in the label and use the difference in the stability of the label as a difference in the structure of the first and second target regions and detect the target nucleic acid with a good sensitivity.
