PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the life characteristic by including a positive electrode active material containing a lithium composite metal compound and an additive selected from the group consisting of semimetal, metal and oxides thereof. SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material is generally formed of manganese series excellent in environmental affinity and relatively inexpensive such as LiMn2O4 used for lithium secondary battery, cobalt series having satisfactory electric conductivity, high battery voltage and excellent electrode characteristic such as LiCoO2, or nickel series showing high discharge capacity characteristic and economical such as LiNiO2. Of each system, the usable positive electrode active material is selected from 3V-class or 4V-class lithium secondary battery positive electrode active materials of a prescribed compound group according to a characteristic and use. The positive electrode active material composition further contains a semimetal, a metal or the oxide thereof in order to improve the discharge capacity and the characteristics of high rate charge and discharge condition and long life, particularly, the life characteristic under high temperature condition. |
