PURPOSE: A method of transmitting an audio stream using a digital interface is to separately transmit a video and audio data to each corresponding peripheral device connected each other through a digital interface, thereby providing a high resolution image and a high quality sound. CONSTITUTION: A method of transmitting an audio stream using a digital interface comprises the steps of: grasping a characteristic of each peripheral device connected through a digital interface; deciding a transmission format of a datastream read from a disk recording medium based on the grasped characteristic of each peripheral device; converting the read datastream into video and audio transmission stream corresponding to the decided transmission format; and transmitting the converted transmission stream to each different transmission channel. In the method, the transmission channel is an isochronous channel having a different transmission passage. the characteristic grasping process is performed when resetting a bus connected by a digital interface.
