<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the precision of movement detection. SOLUTION: The dynamic area discrimination circuit 63 of a movement detection circuit 26 uses a field difference value and three frame difference values (a) to (c) and takes scene changes, device mode information, a line difference value, etc., into consideration to discriminate a dynamic area. Pixels placed on lines above and below the line where a pixel for which the frame difference value (a) was calculated in located are used to calculate frame difference values (b) and (c). An isolated area elimination circuit 66 detects a dynamic area surrounded with a static area and converts the dynamic area to a static area. A dynamic area extension circuit 67 converts a prescribed number of pixels in static areas adjacent to the area which is judged to be a dynamic area to a dynamic area.</p> |
