DIRECT CONTACT HOT WATER HEATER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect the circumferential wall of a combustion chamber surely by forming a thick water film on the inner surface thereof. SOLUTION: A tubular body 2 is provided with a heat exchanging chamber 3, a combustion chamber 4, and a hot water storage section 5 stacked sequentially from above in turn. The heat exchanging chamber 3 and the combustion chamber 4 are partitioned by a reverse conical tubular water flow partition plate 6 comprising a perforated plate and the heat exchanging chamber 3 is filled with a filler 7. Water distributed through a distributor 8 from an upper portion of the chamber 3 and supplied into the heat exchanging chamber 3 is heated through heat exchange with the filler 7 heated by combustion of the combustion chamber 4. Heated water flows down along the inner surface of the circumferential wall of the combustion chamber 4 while forming a water film and stored in the hot water storage section 5. In such a direct contact hot water heater, a constricted section 14 for reducing the inside diameter of the combustion chamber 4 smaller than that of the heat exchanging chamber 3 is provided on the circumferential wall between the heat exchanging chamber 3 and the combustion chamber 4 at a position lower than the water flow partition plate 6.
