摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a liquid crystal device capable of excellently maintaining the initial aligned state even when the alignment controllability of the alignment layer is degraded. SOLUTION: In this liquid crystal device in which a liquid crystal layer 3 is interposed between a pair of substrates 1, 2 and alignment layers 10 is formed on the liquid crystal layer 3 side surface of at least one substrate of the pair of substrates, a polymer dispersion 30 having alignment controllability nearly equal to or stronger than that of liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer 3 by the alignment layer 10 is interposed in the liquid crystal layer 3. The polymer dispersion 30 is formed, for example, by preliminarily mixing an ultraviolet curing monomer into the liquid crystal layer 3 and polymerizing the monomer by being irradiated with ultraviolet rays in the state the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer 3 are aligned in a specified direction.
