PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a torque accurately by providing an insulating means between the sensor shaft of a torque detecting means and the input shaft of a steering and breaking a horn current flowing through the input shaft not to flow into the torque detecting means by the insulating means thereby preventing fluctuation of output from a torque sensor. SOLUTION: An input shaft 3 having one end coupled with a steering wheel 2 is coupled with the sensor shaft 72 of a torque detecting means 7 through an input shaft coupling means (inner collar) 4, i.e., a metallic tube having noncircular outer circumferential surface. Outer circumferential surface of the inner collar 4 is covered with a rubber insulating means 5 and since the inner collar 4 is press fitted to the outer collar part 3b of the input shaft 3 through the insulating means 5, the input shaft 3 and the sensor shaft 72 are coupled under insulated state. A horn current also flows through the input shaft 3 when a horn switch 2a is depressed, but it is broken by the insulating means 5 not to flow into the sensor shaft 72. Consequently, characteristics of the torque detecting means 7 are not varied and sensor parts can be protected against deterioration. |
