PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely discriminate a change in a program by extracting and processing data with respect to an electronic program guide(EPG) in a multiple stream and detecting a state change in video data and /or audio data that are being received so as to synthesize EPG display picture signals. SOLUTION: A demodulation means 2 digitally demodulates a received signal of a channel that is selected and provides an output of digital data including a selected program according to control data from a control CPU 7. A packet demultiplexer means 3 demultiplexes and extracts packets of the selected program from an input stream, provides the output of video data and audio data of the program, and demultiplexes and extracts data denoting program arrangement information. The stream includes data denoting a channel name on service, titles of each program, a start/end time, a/consecutive time, contents and a progress state or the like, the data are processed and an EPG display picture is generated and displayed.
